A Gentler Way to Whiten Sensitive Teeth

Would you love whiter teeth, but worry about sensitivity?

For some people, the thought of teeth whitening immediately brings to mind sensitive, aching or uncomfortable teeth. DWC8® has been specially developed to offer a gentler approach to professional whitening, making it particularly suitable for people with sensitive teeth or those who may have found conventional whitening uncomfortable in the past.

Available at Shaftesbury Dental Care, DWC8® contains 8% carbamide peroxide and uses a patented high-alkaline formulation designed to whiten teeth while supporting the natural remineralisation of enamel.

The result is a brighter smile with comfort at the heart of your treatment.

What Is DWC8®?

DWC8® is a professional teeth-whitening treatment designed for patients who want to improve the colour of their teeth without unnecessary sensitivity.

Unlike whitening products bought online or over the counter, your treatment is provided under the care of a dental professional, so we can first assess your teeth, understand what is causing the discolouration and recommend the most appropriate approach for your smile.

DWC8® can be used with professionally made bleaching trays and is also suitable for people wearing clear aligners or retainers.

More Than Everyday Teeth Whitening

Not every discoloured tooth is the same.

While some people simply want to brighten teeth that have gradually become darker or more stained, others have more difficult types of discolouration that may not respond in the same way to conventional whitening.

DWC8® can be particularly useful for treating or improving the appearance of:

  • Sensitive teeth

  • Tetracycline staining

  • A traumatised or single discoloured tooth

  • White spot lesions following orthodontic treatment

  • Molar incisor hypomineralisation

  • Areas of enamel demineralisation

If you have one tooth that is noticeably darker than the others, patchy areas of colour or white marks following braces, we can assess these individually rather than simply treating your whole smile in the same way.

Can DWC8® Help With

White Spots?

White spots on the teeth can become particularly noticeable after orthodontic treatment. They may occur when areas of enamel have become demineralised around orthodontic brackets, leaving patches that are a different colour from the surrounding tooth.

Simply whitening the teeth does not always solve the problem. DWC8® offers a different approach, with its whitening and remineralisation properties helping us to improve the overall appearance and create a more even-looking smile.

We will assess the white spots first, as the right treatment will depend on what has caused them and the condition of the enamel.

What About a Single Dark Tooth?

A tooth can sometimes become darker following trauma, even when the rest of your smile remains relatively bright.Rather than whitening every tooth indiscriminately, DWC8® can be used as part of a carefully planned approach to individual discoloured teeth. Our dentists will first investigate why the tooth has changed colour before recommending treatment. Where whitening is appropriate, the aim is to bring the darker tooth more closely into harmony with the rest of your smile while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.

Can I Use DWC8® With Clear Aligners or Retainers?

Yes. DWC8® is suitable for use with clear aligners and retainers, making it particularly convenient if you are already undergoing or have recently completed orthodontic treatment.

Your dentist will explain exactly how and when to use your whitening treatment so that it fits safely into your existing dental or orthodontic care.

A Brighter Smile, Even for Sensitive Teeth

Perhaps you've tried whitening before and found the sensitivity too uncomfortable. Maybe you have tetracycline staining, white spots following braces, uneven enamel colour or one tooth that is noticeably darker than the rest. Or perhaps you've simply been told that your teeth are difficult to whiten.

DWC8® has been developed for exactly these more challenging cases. Its gentle whitening and remineralising formulation gives us another option for improving discolouration while being particularly suited to sensitive teeth.

At Shaftesbury Dental Care, we'll assess what is causing the colour or unevenness in your teeth and create a whitening approach tailored to you.
