Smile Makeovers
What Is a Smile Makeover?
A smile makeover is a personalised approach to improving the appearance of your smile. Rather than starting with a particular treatment, we begin by looking at what you would like to change, whether that's the colour, position, shape or overall appearance of your teeth.
For some patients, whitening alone may be enough. Others may benefit from orthodontics, composite bonding, porcelain veneers or a carefully planned combination of treatments.
At Shaftesbury Dental Care, our approach is always to consider the most conservative option first, preserving as much healthy natural tooth structure as possible while creating a result that feels right for you.

Do you only want to change the colour of your teeth?
If you’re happy with the shape and position of your teeth but would simply like a brighter, whiter smile, get2smile® offers a convenient approach to professional teeth whitening.
Developed by Dr Wyman Chan, get2smile® is a trayless whitening system designed to whiten your natural teeth without removing healthy tooth structure. Unlike traditional home-whitening systems, there’s no need for dental impressions, scanning or custom-made whitening trays, and each application takes just 15 minutes.
The system uses a pH-balanced alkaline whitening gel with a patented activator and can help improve discolouration associated with ageing and everyday staining from food, drinks and smoking. For some patients, whitening alone can make a significant difference to their smile; for others, it may form the first stage of a wider smile makeover.
At Shaftesbury Dental Care, we’ll assess your teeth before treatment, discuss the result you’d like to achieve and explain whether get2smile® is suitable for you.
This treatment is provided by Dr Elvis Law, who will assess your teeth, discuss the result you’d like to achieve and explain whether the treatment is suitable for you.

Would you like to improve the alignment of your teeth?
If your teeth are crooked, crowded or spaced apart, or your bite could be improved, orthodontic treatment may be an appropriate way to improve both the position and appearance of your teeth.
Orthodontics gradually moves your natural teeth into a healthier, more balanced position using fixed braces or clear aligners. By improving alignment first, we can often enhance your smile while preserving your natural tooth structure.
Some patients choose to whiten their teeth once orthodontic treatment is complete. Combining tooth straightening with get2smile® teeth whitening can provide a conservative approach to transforming a smile without unnecessarily removing healthy tooth structure for restorations.
At Shaftesbury Dental Care, orthodontic treatment is provided by Dr Mervyn Chin, Specialist Orthodontist, who will assess your teeth and bite and discuss the treatment options most appropriate for you.
Would you like to change the shape of your teeth?
Composite Bonding
If you’re happy with the position of your teeth but would like to improve their shape, size or small imperfections, composite bonding may be an appropriate option. Composite bonding involves carefully applying tooth-coloured resin directly to the teeth. It can be used to repair chips, close small gaps, reshape uneven edges and improve the symmetry of your smile. In many cases, little or no removal of healthy tooth structure is required, making it one of the more conservative ways to change the appearance of a tooth. If you’re also considering whitening, this will usually be carried out before bonding so that the composite can be matched to the new shade of your teeth.
Porcelain Veneers
Where you would like to make a more significant change to the colour, shape, size or overall appearance of your teeth, porcelain veneers may be considered. Veneers are thin, individually made ceramic restorations bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They can be used to address several concerns at the same time, including discolouration, worn or chipped teeth, uneven shapes, small gaps and, in suitable cases, minor alignment concerns. Because veneers generally require some preparation of the natural tooth, we will always consider more conservative options first. Whitening, orthodontics or composite bonding may be able to achieve the result you want without the need for veneers.
At Shaftesbury Dental Care, cosmetic and restorative treatment is provided by Dr Zoe Fung, Principal Dentist, who will assess your smile and discuss which approach is most appropriate for you.
Your Consultation
Your consultation is an opportunity to explore what’s possible. We’ll examine your teeth, discuss what you would like to change and explain the options available, including the advantages and limitations of each where relevant. You’ll then receive a personalised treatment plan based on your smile, priorities and long-term oral health.
